The Beatitudes Matthew 53-12; and Luke 6:20-23.
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
in spirit: for theirs is the kingsom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after rightousness:
for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blesssed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the
children of God.
10 Blesssed are they that are persecuted for righteousness"sake:
for theirs is the kingsom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye when men sahll revile you, and persecute you,
and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad; for great is your reward
in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were
before you.
Luke 6:20-23.
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said,
Blessed be the poor: for yours is the kingdom of heaven.
21 Blessed are ye that hunger and thirst now: for you shall be filled.
Blessed are that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
22 Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall
seperate you from their company, and shall reproach you,
and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold,
your reward is great in heaven:for in the like manner
did they their fathers unto the prophets.
There are a number of Greek words for the English word "Blessed" each having a different meaning in the New Testnemt Gospels depending on the context of the verses.
When one uses one of the Greek words for blessed such as Makrios which interpreted means Concecrated, which in the Betitudes, the Lord indicates not only the character or rather the people are blessed but the nature of that which of the highest good.

This is very much brought out in the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12; and Luke 6:20-23. Then looking further down in Luke 6:28 where Jesus is asking His hearers and by extention, others too, to bless those that curse them.
The story of the Good Samaritan comes to mind.
Luke 10:25-37.
also in the Civil law found in Deuteronomy 22:1-4
I am sure that Jesus who would have been well versed in te Old Testament scriptures probably had theses verses in mind and extended them to those who arent quite so nice in fact even one enemies,as Jesus in Matthew 5:44.
Matthew 5:44King James Version (KJV)
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
see also Exodus 23:5-6.
Exodus 23:4-5King James Version (KJV)
4 If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.
5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.
When one changes Blessed to Concecrate in the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12; and Luke 6:20-23. it tends to come together more easily or readily rather than, as many today would replace Blessed with Happpy which in some respects loses some sense of the enormity of the depth that Jesus was trying to convey or infer and those who may be suffering for their faith, or in particularly difficult situations or circumstances, or grieving the loss of loved ones etc. and those who are seeking after righeousness nd truth etc.
